Easter in Sussex is so close and can’t come quick enough, for all of us being thrown back into the depths of winter mid-March. It can’t just be me who is constantly cold, right?
Easter, although not always the warmest, still brings a sense of transformation and hope with the ability to enjoy some time off to rest and spend time with friends and family.
Whether you are based in West or East Sussex, or along the coast, there is something on for everyone. There are a range of family-friendly events, easter egg hunts and great days out.
There are also some nice evening activities for us adults who might need some downtime crafting or making our own chocolate eggs!
Easter in East Sussex
Brighton And Hove
Brighton and Hove are great places to visit, especially when the weather starts to improve. There is a variety of events and activities on over the Easter Holidays for all ages. Here are some of our top picks:
Easter at the Manor – Preston Manor and Gardens
Enjoy Easter at the Manor, where an Edwardian Fete will be hosted. This event will be filled with family fun and plenty of magic. It’s free, so just turn up. There will be music, seasonal crafts, and Edwardian characters to meet and greet.

This is an exciting time for Preston Manor, as it re-opens it’s doors in April, having been closed to the public for 5 years.
Why not bring a picnic to enjoy the Spring event, or there is Cafe Rust on site, where you can grab sweet treats or your favourite caffeinated drink.

Easter Bunny Afternoon Tea Party – Dobbies Brighton
Enjoy a fun afternoon tea with the Easter Bunny, with various activities and games. Children can learn how to plant and grow their lettuce, bringing this home at the end. There will be a bunny hop relay and all children will bring home an Easter Egg.

There is both a children’s and adults’ menu for the afternoon tea, with bunny-shaped sandwiches, fresh scones and sweet treats such as gingerbread men, waffle fingers and doughnuts.

Play Day at Hove Museum of Creativity
As the weather is starting to improve, Hove Museum of Creativity is running its wonderful outdoor play days. This is a great place to organise a play date, with a cafe on site for any much needed sustenance.

My kids love this Museum and we could easily spend a whole morning here.

The Royal Pavillion and Gardens
Visit the Royal Pavillion this Easter, it is a great place to hang out in the warmer weather. There is a recent art installation within the grounds, with a huge painted rainbow, to celebrate “Colour, Culture and Curiosities”.

GloBalls at Brighton Marina
GloBakks is a unique UV crazy golf course, situated at Brighton Marina. There are three courses of themed crazy golf to choose from, allowing you to immerse yourself into another, magical realm!

Choose from the sea-themed Aquatica, Zootopia or the Jurrasic course. There is a new Labyrinthia Maze opened, in addition to Carnival Games to enjoy. Refreshments are available on site and it is £5 per person.
This is a great rainy day activity in Brighton, because lets face it, we are still in the UK after all!
Easter Makers Fair – Saltdean Lido
Browse a range of local crafts at the Easter Makers Fair, at the wonderful, recently revamped Saltdean Lido Ballroom. This Easter Makers Fair is expected to be colourful and thoughtfully curated, featuring handpicked local businesses.

Eastbourne
Promenade Environmental Art Trail
Check out Eastbourne’s beautiful Promenade Environmental Art Trail. Installed are seven unique and contemporary art trails to explore and enjoy. This art trail celebrates the unique landscape that is Eastbourne.

You can pick up a map from the Towner, or any participating hotels (Hydro, Lansdowne, The View, West Rocks, Cumberland, York House & East Beach Hotels)

Easter delights at Michelham Priory
This Easter weekend, Michelham Priory House & Gardens invites visitors of all ages to explore a fully accessible Easter Egg hunt hidden among 80,000 blooming daffodils.

The £2 trail donation supports the Friends of Michelham Priory, with additional highlights including a guided garden tour and the chance to uncover 800 years of history. The site offers a beautiful mix of springtime scenery, heritage, and family-friendly fun.

Easter Holidays at Drusillas Park
Drusillas is a wonderful family day out. This Easter in Sussex, they are running a free Easter egg trail, whilst kids can enjoy the park. There are many animals to see within the zoo, there is a splash pad which works well now the weather is improving and both an indoor and outdoor playground.

Drusilla’s is celebrating it’s 100th year anniversary, so they are running a special early bird offer this Easter.

Easter Half Term at Sharnfold Farm
Sharnfold Farm are showcasing their brand-new area, the Hollow Hideout this Easter in Sussex. Sharnfold Farm is set in the beautiful East Sussex countryside and is a wonderful day out for families.

There is a themed play area and a variety of friendly farm animals, ranging from goats, chickens, ducks to alpacas. There is a cafe on site and you could easily spend the whole day here, keeping the little ones entertained with a wholesome day out.

Dragon Egg hunt at Lewes Castle & Museum
This Easter, young adventurers are invited to Lewes Castle & Museum to help track down a Knucker dragon’s stolen eggs before Sussex faces her fiery wrath! Follow the dragon trail, uncover the hidden eggs, and record their markings to earn a chocolatey reward from the King.

Pearls of the Sea: Landing Places
This wonderful celebration of children’s art showcases the creativity of over 470 students from eight different schools.
The exhibition includes a mesmerising giant, a suspended shingle beach, the echoes of sea shanties, and much more interesting pieces of work.

This exhibition celebrates the rich maritime heritage and creativity within the town of Hastings. This is a great idea to explore with kids this Easter in Sussex.

Rude Science Live at the White Rock Theatre

Rude Science Live is set to be bonkers and hilarious. It will be a jam-packed show with many entertaining stunts. I’m not sure about your kids, but huge bottoms, big fart machines and vast whoopie cushions are the makings of a great day out for my seven-year-old boy!

Easter Chocolate Masterclass at The Artisan Bakehouse

Easter Trail at Leonardslee Gardens
The beautiful and ever-captivating Leonardslee Gardens are hosting an Easter trail, making a great family day out. This Easter Trail is showcasing “How Things Grow”, kids will receive a special sticker pack to complete along the trail, with a special prize at the end.

Leonardslee Gardens is one of the Best Family Days Out in Sussex, and it is easy to spend the whole day there, immersed in its enchanting trail. The playground is a huge hit with my kids also, it is well equipped with beautiful large wooden structures.

Easter Egg Trails at Horsham Museum and Art Gallery

Horsham Museum and Art Gallery will host a free easter egg trail and big dino egg hunt. This will be free admission and a great way to keep costs down on Easter Half Term.

Throughout the two-week Easter Holidays, the museum will be running seasonal, family-friendly crafts. Week one’s theme will be Easter “Surprise Eggs” and week two’s theme will be Spring Animal Headbands

Easter Bunny Trail at Horsham Town Centre
Check out this free Easter Bunny trail by following the beautifully illustrated colour map around town. There are 20 pink Easter Bunnies to hunt down in various shop fronts and businesses in Horsham town centre. Each bunny reveals a clue which means you can enter a prize!

Chocolate Workshop at Tinwood Estate
Tinwood Estate are hosting a Chocolate and Wine Fiesta, featuring an evening of chocolate-making and decorating with expert chocolatier Richard Bingham.

Haywards Heath
Easter Egg Hunt at Nymans

Buchan Country Park is a great place to meet family and friends, in fact, this was my number one meeting spot when catching up with friends from London. The Country Park comes alive in Spring with beautiful, vibrant flowers.
It is the perfect spot for watching wildlife, walking or taking a picnic.
As night falls, the festival transforms with dazzling lights, creating a magical experience under the stars.
Littlehampton
Easter High Street Event
Head to the High Street in Littlehampton for a free family event on Littlehampton High Street. It is due to be packed with fun activities for all ages. Enjoy a drop-in art workshop, magician performances, face painting, soft play, and an Easter Bunny walkabout, plus stalls and cake decorating.

Take part in the Easter Scavenger Hunt for a chance to win prizes, with each event featuring unique entertainment and workshops!

Skyfall Zipline

Friends Of Mewsbrook Park Easter Bunny Hunt
Families are invited to join a free Easter Egg Hunt at Mewsbrook Park, where children can search for rabbit pictures hidden around the park. The first 250 children to complete the hunt will receive an Easter treat from Monty the Mewsbrook Duck.

Entry is free, but participants must collect a ticket from the organizer’s gazebo to ensure treats are distributed fairly.
