October half-term is just around the corner, and there is so much happening across Sussex. From slime workshops, Pumpkin Picking, craft sessions, storytelling and more.
October half-term runs from the 27th to the 31st of October 2025, with the Friday falling on Halloween. There are lots of spooky, Halloween events in Sussex, in addition to a plethora of bonfire and fireworks nights.

Blackberry Woods Spooktacular Halloween Week
Blackberry Woods is hosting an enjoyable Halloween celebration that the whole family will love! The whole site will be filled with a beautiful Autumn vibe and spooktacular Halloween decor.

Expect a spooky trail walk in the haunted woodland, a pumpkin carving station, creepy crafts corner, toasty treats and a Halloween Mystery. Costumes are highly encouraged!

Ditchling Museum Craft Club
Ditchling Museum continues to run its October half-term workshops, where children will create prints, try weaving, and work with clay, with time to explore the museum and enjoy activities in our Clore Learning Space.

The museum education team will lead this session. This is a drop-off session and suitable for children aged 6-12.

Join the Creative Club in Brighton for this Halloween half-term event, offering art workshops for children aged 8–12, where they can explore creative and spooky-themed crafts. Choose from spooky ceramics, Minecraft mask making or paint your own witch’s cat decoration.

One Garden: Halloween Trail & Family Workshops
One Garden is a great day out for families, located in Stanmer Park. They will be running a haunted garden trail with craft sessions, potion making, slime workshops, storytelling, and seasonal decorations for families to enjoy throughout the October half-term.

The trail is free, with a suggested donation of £2. The other themed activities come with an additional cost, and booking is advised.

Drusillas Park: Shriek Week
Drusilla’s Park hosts an annual Halloween Shriek Week, a week of Halloween fun for children. Expect spooky mazes, creepy characters, seasonal treats, and themed entertainment.

Lewes Castle & Museum: Firework Fairy & Tinkering Troll Trail
Enjoy a magical self-led Firework Fairy and Tinkering Troll trail across the castle grounds: find hidden fairy and troll houses, complete clues, and enjoy Halloween-themed activities included with admission. Search for all 8 hidden fairy and troll houses, and enjoy a sweet treat as a reward for completing the trail.

Families can learn all about the world-famous Lewes Bonfire night, and about the unique Bonfire society that keeps the tradition going.

Spooky Fun at Anne of Cleves’ House
This October half term, Anne of Cleves’ House in Lewes invites families to enjoy a mix of history, creativity, and spooky storytelling.
Children can participate in the Hidden Wonders Hunt, spotting details around the museum and earning a special sticker. Drop in for ghost stories with Trevor throughout the day or get crafty making spooky, seasonal Halloween decorations like bats and pom-pom spiders.

With all activities included in general admission and discounts for families, it’s the perfect place for a fun and educational day out in Lewes.

Bodiam Castle: Spell Quest, Magic Potions and Wand Making Workshops
Bodiam Castle is offering a mix of spooky and creative Halloween experiences, including a Spell Quest trail where children can unlock magical powers through clues and challenges.

There’s Halloween face painting, allowing visitors to get into character, and a Best Dressed costume competition hosted on key dates.
Families can also join a range of Halloween crafts sessions to make seasonal decorations like witches, ghosts, and more. Additionally, the castle is hosting Spooky Circus Skills workshops (juggling, plate spinning, stilts) and magical potion & wand making for those wanting an extra dose of Halloween fun.

Michelam Priory: Pumpkins at the Priory
This October half term, Michelham Priory House & Gardens invites families to enjoy a week of spooky fun and creativity. Explore the stunning autumn grounds on the Pumpkin Trail and take on the Spider Treasure Hunt through the historic house to earn a sweet reward.

Head to the barn for Halloween crafts, where children can make ghost mobiles, potions, peg doll witches, and even join in the Broomstick Derby.
With free entry for up to two children per paying adult on Halloween, it’s the perfect place for a magical family day out.

Jack on The Green
Jack on The Green is an annual immersive light show in Worthing. It is curated and run by the South East’s largest arts charity, Same Sky. This is a lovely event to go to with kids; there are a variety of illuminated, handcrafted lanterns and sounds to complement the structures.

Fishbourne Palace: Roman Army Week
This October half-term, Fishbourne Roman Palace invites families to step back in time and join the Roman Army for a hands-on historical adventure.
Young recruits can take part in military drills in the Palace gardens, practising sword and shield skills, spear throwing, and writing their names in Roman letters.

Alongside dressing up and learning about ancient medicines, food, and games, families can enjoy discovering what life was like for a real Roman soldier. A seasonal Pumpkin Trail through the gardens adds a festive touch, celebrating Halloween’s ancient Celtic roots.

This October Half-Term, step into a world of shadow and wonder as you explore Leonardslee’s Haunted Gardens and help bring the light back to life.

After your spooky garden adventure, head to the studio for hands-on creative fun. Create your own lanterns and complete exciting activity sheets for older and younger children.

Wakehurst, Zog Trail

Aldingbourne Country Centre, Halloween Spooktacular
This October half term, families can enjoy a week of Halloween Spooktacular fun while supporting the wonderful charity at Aldingbourne Country Centre.
The event features a Creepy Carnival with games for all ages, Creeptastic Crafts, and Spooky Story Time for little ones. Brave visitors can try their hand at Zombie Archery or follow the Trick or Treat Trail to collect stickers and win a prize.

After all the excitement, families can enjoy freshly made lunches, snacks, and cakes at the Quarry Cafe, where kids absolutely adore the indoor, two-storey slide.
