English Wine Week is almost here, an annual celebration of homegrown wines, running from the 20th of June to the 28th of June 2026.
Sussex is renowned as the champion of English wine, due to our unique terrain, akin to that of the Champagne region in France. England produced a record 10 million bottles of wine in 2025, so what a way to celebrate other than a dedicated, national week.
This year it coincides with both Father’s Day and the summer solstice. Sussex has an array of bustling vineyards, each unique and characterful in their own way. I’ve written about the Rother Wine Triangle previously; however, there are many other vineyards and wineries across the County.
Sussex is the perfect climate for producing, as it is located on the same band of chalk that forms the Paris Basin, running from the North of France across the South of England.
Did you know both still and sparkling wines produced across Sussex are amongst a list of products with geographically protected status? Joining the likes of Cornish clotted cream, Scotch whiskey, Jersey royal potatoes and Scottish wild salmon.
Here are a few of the wonderful events, tours and tastings happening across the region.
