Visit the Rother Wine Triangle – Is This The Best Wine Trail in the UK 2026?

The Rother Wine Triangle is the first official wine trail in the Sussex Winelands, marking an exciting beginning of a series of wine trails across the region.

The Rother Wine Triangle stretches between Hastings, Rye and Flimwell, right in the heart of 1066 Country, with clear, recognisable signage along the way.

Located in the beautiful High Weald Area of Outstanding Beauty, you will be spoilt by stunning vistas and beautiful landscapes along the way.

Although we took a mini bus on the day, the trail is very much doable for avid walkers, by bike or by taxi. There is parking along the way if you prefer to drive and use the spitoon.

The Rother Valley is a unique low-lying landscape, clocking some of the highest hours of sunshine in the Country. It’s unique terrain gives rise to some award-winning wines, both sparkling and still.

I visited the Rother Wine Triangle during it’s launch in English Wine Week 2025 and it was a wonderful day filled with delicious local wines, nibbles, interesting talks and tours and a sneak peak into some stunning on-site accommodation.

Participating Vineyards

Encompassing six award-winning vineyards, with clearly passionate owners and growers, with great attention to detail.

  • Tillingham
  • Oastbrook
  • Oxney Organic Estate
  • Charles Palmer Vineyard
  • Mountfield Winery
  • Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard

Tillingham

Tillingham is a natural and biodynamic wine producer rooted in the East Sussex countryside. Set amongst 70 acres of the rolling landscape, with far-reaching views of the Tillingham River, woodlands and rolling hills, this is a popular option for those visiting from London and the surrounding areas.

Our tour guide, Elliot, was extremely professional and knowledgeable. We tried a variety of Tillingham wines, whilst gaining an insight into the workings of the vineyard and winery.

Tillingham uses a highly sustainable, diverse, and poly-cultural approach to farming, aiming to restore soils to higher levels of organic matter and microbial and wider ecological diversity.

The indoor area is rustic yet elegant, with the al fresco area offering lovely views of the surrounding area, where you can enjoy the delicious food and wine offerings.

We were welcomed by the vivacious and frankly, brilliant owner, America, alongside her husband Nick and friendly Labrador Lora. They are clearly passionate about their vineyard, the wine they make and creating a memorable experience for their guests above all.
