We visited the long-standing, beautifully decorated Indian Summer recently, which arguably serves up the best curry in Brighton. Set to celebrate 20 years in the South Lanes in Summer 2026, Indian Summer is an award-winning independent restaurant. It is somewhat of a Brighton institution and a must-visit if you are looking for delicious South Asian cuisine.
We travelled from Worthing and went on a date night on a sunny March Saturday evening. The place had a lovely vibe about it and we were greeted instantly by staff who were ever so helpful with their suggestions on both the food and the drinks menu.

Authentic Curry in Brighton
You will find an eclectic food menu here, alongside some of the classic recognisable Indian dishes.
We enjoyed a couple of cocktails before our food arrived. I had the non-alcoholic Ginger Szechuan Margarita to begin, whilst the other half enjoyed a Mango cocktail, mixed with an award-winning Desi Daru Alphonso Vodka.
This was highly recommended by the bar staff as the vodka is just so delicious. I did have a try of it and had to agree, although sadly I was the designated driver on the night, so not too much mango vodka for me, just a taste!

We had the pleasure of enjoying the Indian Summer Experience, which included fresh poppadoms and divine chutneys, an array of starters and then the star of the show, the famous Thali platters. We particularly devoured the mango, pineapple chutney; at one point, it felt like a dipping competition to see who could devour it more.

For me, the menu here is a dream come true. Have you ever been to a restaurant and wanted one of everything on the menu? Well, you’re not far off here! This is a great place for mixed diets (meat, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free) and nothing was a hassle to accommodate us.

The food is so fresh and delicious, with the Thali giving diners the option to sample the various curries and dishes on the menu.
For dessert, we shared the vegan coconut kulfi, a gorgeous ice cream dish, with a fresh homemade coconut biscuit on the side (this was so good). We also shared the double chocolate mousse and brownie.
All of the dishes are beautifully presented. The staff were lovely and helpful, from menu recommendations to excellent service. There was a lovely vibe and atmosphere in the restaurant, and both my husband and I agreed we would be returning promptly.
Do get down to Indian Summer for your next date night, catch-up with friends or for a larger outing. There is a perfect space for larger groups at the back of the restaurant.
